THE OPPORTUNITY

The Radiology Office Specialist will maintain the highest standards of customer service while performing a variety of duties.  Work in a professional manner at all times and maintain a teamwork approach.  Perform a variety of customer service and routine administrative tasks to provide for efficient and courteous operations of the department.  Responsible for the collection of patient demographics, billing and clinical information needed for entry into the Radiology computer system.

THE WORK

This position requires flexibility, a willingness to help in all areas, the ability to multitask and sound judgement.  This is a full time position Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurate scheduling of MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Mammography and X-ray exams
  • Answer all incoming telephone calls in a professional manner utilizing multi-phone lines
  • Scan patient ID cards, insurance cards,physician orders and other relevant patient information into the RIS software
  • Accurately obtain billing information
  • Collect and record insurance copays
  • Obtain insurance authorization and verification
  • Request patient information from referring physicians and other entities as needed
  • Accurately receive/retrieve/release files in accordance with department policy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate, or equivalent education, is required
  • Outpatient imaging center experience preferred, healthcare experience a must
  • Represent the company with discretion, professionalism, and a positive attitude
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Maintains patient and personal confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment

  • Excellent multi tasking skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus
