THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently searching for a competitive, self-motivated, enthusiastic team member to work as a Medical Office Coordinator at our Ocala Medical Health Center.  

THE WORK

The Medical Office Coordinator is responsible for the insurance verification of all insurance plans for Endocrinology, Cardiology and Super Urgent Care.  The Coordinator will also obtain referrals, authorizations and precertifications required for office procedure and diagnostic testing.  Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with great attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contact various insurance companies to obtain insurance benefit information.
  • Contact patient or PCP to obtain information necessary to verify insurance is accurate, updated and active.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for copay, deductible and coinsurance for new and established patients.
  • Obtain referrals for new or established clinic patients.
  • Obtain precertifications and preauthorizations for procedures and diagnostic testing.
  • Add insurance to EMR system.
  • Research enrollment issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program with a valid MA school certificate, or Registered Medical Assistant, or Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Minimum three (3) years of medical office experience.
  • Working knowledge of insurance verification process and contracted insurance plans.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer with Google and EMR software.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and thorough knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures.
